The Temptation and Fall of Homo^(A)

3At present ^(B)the serpent was ^(C)more than cunning than whatever beast of the field which the Lord God had fabricated. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'Yous shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

²And the woman said to the serpent, "We may swallow the ^(D)fruit of the trees of the garden; ³only of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'Y'all shall non consume it, nor shall you ^(Eastward)touch it, lest you die.' "

^{4 (F)}And so the ophidian said to the woman, "You will not surely die. ⁵For God knows that in the twenty-four hours yous eat of information technology your eyes will exist opened, and you will be similar God, knowing good and evil."

⁶So when the woman ^(G)saw that the tree was good for food, that it was ^[a]pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit ^(H)and ate. She also gave to her hubby with her, and he ate. ⁷Then the eyes of both of them were opened, ^(I)and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and fabricated themselves ^[b]coverings.

^viiiAnd they heard ^(J)the ^[c]sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the ^[d]absurd of the day, and Adam and his wife ^(K)hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

^ixSo the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you lot?"

^tenSo he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, ^(L)and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself."

¹¹And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Accept you lot eaten from the tree of which I commanded yous that you should not eat?"

¹²Then the man said, ^(M)"The woman whom Y'all gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate."

^thirteenAnd the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have washed?"

The woman said, ^(North)"The snake deceived me, and I ate."

¹⁴So the Lord God said to the snake:

"Because yous have done this,
You lot are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you lot shall get,
And ^(O)you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
^fifteenAnd I will put enmity
Between yous and the adult female,
And between ^(P)your seed and ^(Q)her Seed;
^(R)He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel."

¹⁶To the woman He said:

"I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
^(S)In pain you shall bring forth children;
^(T)Your desire shall exist ^[e]for your husband,
And he shall ^(U)rule over you."

¹⁷So to Adam He said, ^(Five)"Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and take eaten from the tree ^(W)of which I commanded you lot, saying, 'Y'all shall not eat of it':

^(X)"Cursed is the ground for your sake;
^(Y)In toil yous shall consume of it
All the days of your life.
^eighteenBoth thorns and thistles it shall ^[f]bring forth for you lot,
And ^(Z)yous shall eat the herb of the field.
^{19 (AA)}In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the basis,
For out of it you were taken;
^(AB)For dust you are,
And ^(AC)to dust you shall return."

^twentyAnd Adam called his wife'south proper name ^{(Advertizing)}Eve,^[g] because she was the female parent of all living.

²¹Besides for Adam and his married woman the Lord God fabricated tunics of skin, and clothed them.

²²Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know skillful and evil. And at present, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and consume, and live forever"— ²³therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden ^(AE)to till the footing from which he was taken. ²⁴And so ^(AF)He drove out the man; and He placed ^(AG)cherubim ^(AH)at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every style, to guard the fashion to the tree of ^(AI)life.
